# Page structure

Headings, lists and quotes, and how they shape the table of contents.

Start every page with the answer, then the detail. Readers scan before they read.

## Headings

Use **H2** for sections and **H3** for sub-sections. Both appear in the table of contents on the right; H4 and below do not.

### Keep them short

A heading should say what the section covers in a few words, so the table of contents doubles as a summary.

## Lists

- Bullets for items in no particular order
- Numbers for anything done in sequence
1. Write the title
2. Write the description
3. Fill the sections

## Quotes

> Write the page you would want when something is on fire: the fix first, the background after.
